Gearbox noise

Hi,

I've got a problem with my 172 Clio. When I shift from 1st to 2nd gear (at high rpm, above 6500) there is a little metal noise like a not full pressed clutch. I believe that is the synchro, but also the oil was never changed (100k mile). May have a try with a new 75w80 oil?
If the rebuild is the only way, could someone provide me a part number with the synchro or the full set for my gearbox?

I would always try a gearbox oil change first, especially if it's been in the box for 100k.

If it is 2nd gear synchro that's crunching, you're in for a big bill as they've redesigned them, so you need to buy it as a kit. This kit is about £200+ vat.
I keep some 2nd hand originals in stock (I rebuild jc5's in my sleep mate) and I'd imagine you'll need a selector hub and the 2nd gear itself.

I will replace next week the oil and see if something is better.
If is the 2nd synchro damaged, how much could I drive until it will fail completely?
Also, could you please provide me the Renault part no for the kit?

I replace the oil in the gearbox, but the problem is still here.
How much time could I drive it like this?
I think I will try to find here a used one, but in good order, it is possible?...
