gearbox oil

  ph1 black 172
hi all,

changing a driveshaft on saturday, thought i would do the gearbox oil at the same time.

problem is i cant get hold of 75w80, everywhere sells 75w90.

can 75w90 be used?

any help appreciated.

  a thirsty one
opie oils do mate, do you have a german swedish and french shop nearby they should be able to as well.

EPX is pretty cheap and chearfull but it will do fine :)

You can use 75w-90 but it can lead to a baulky shift when hot due to the higher viscosity.

Cheers

Guy

cheers all.

well i fitted the driveshaft and i didnt lose a drop of oil, the driveshaft doesn't go into the diff on my 172 it sits on a stud that comes out past the gearbox oil seal.

just gonna change it with 75w80 anyway
