hi guys might have the chance to get both of these kits very very cheap anyone got any information on which is the best to have for my mk2 172 many thanks cheers
i heard good things about the apollo and the gen 2 has been reported as being a good kit cos of the heat sheild? thanks anyway mate for your comment i have the chance of getting a 2 month old gen 2 for 65 delivered surely this is a bargain for something reported to be the same price as a viper on list price?
the apollo doesnt have a heat sheild it is just plastic thats why it looses you power..cant really comment on the gen2 has never had one... but had a viper and other kits and like i say all just a waste of money..
The Gen2 is a good piece of kit. My bro has had two now, on both of his cars (granted they are not Clio's but Ford Focus') but both have shown gains in bhp. Give's a lovely sound as well. It's probably the only open cone filter I'd say to people its a good buy. I'm happy with a good panel filter, but I can't deny the results on his car. If you can get one for £65 I'd say go for it! Bargain that!
Is the Gen 2 the one that has the extended piping down towards the wheel arch? I'd be interested to see the performance improvements on this over standard K&N gear
cheers mates thanks for that very good comment made i thought i had heard they were good peices of kit the gen 2 has a casing to keep the filter cold the one you are talking about mate is the typhoon which they dont do for the mk2 yet i dont believe!!! yeah 65 i thought is a good bye!!!
I should also of said that the second car initally had a viper ik on it, but my bro removed it as the car felt really sluggish. I don't know if perhaps the enclosed kit restricts the air available too much, if you know what I mean, whereas an open cone can get air from a 360 degree radius (but obviously will suffer in this heat). Here's a quick pic,
Sorry, no heatshield in that pic. (The battery kind of acts as a one on the focus) But yeah, £65 take it. Just make sure to route the cold air feed pipe well for the cone.
cheers guys thanks for that think i am going to go for it rather than spend money on a viper he he i am getting the car mapped correctly eventually so i should get better benefit for it then should i get a better feed or is the standard k&n one ok cheers thanks again...where can you get feeds from longs one at a good price (feeds i mean lol)
