apart from the noise and funny idling, is there any difference in performance of a cat back system with a centre/mid box to one that goes straight through to a back box??

Removing he cat should help give the optential and a bit more power as there less restriction in the sysem but the risk of failing an MOT on emmsions since the cats not there is higher.
