Getting a spare key.

I only have one key for my ph2 172 how much and where can i get it copied so i am not totally fooked.

yeah the key and blade are the cheap bit, its the programming into the car that you get stung on. I had the same situation on my 172.

its more than that from main dealer- ~£190/£200 now-

£6 for the key
£94 for the black bit ( or the other way around ) + vat = £120

£70 ish to code it to the car

there are some people that can do it cheaper

Keys are unique to each car and have to be ordered from France.

They then need to be coded to your car.

Prices vary from dealer to dealer but you're looking at £150-£200 from a dealership.

Keys on phase 2 clios are what they call "virgin" keys. There avalable off the shelf at most dealers and are blank. Takes minuits to program aswell.

You can if you know the right people mate The blade would have to be new though for obvious reasons.

Its £100 for the key, and £100 for reprogramming at Renault, so £240 inc VAT.

The garage near me will do a new key for £90 programmed, they come directly from Renault France preprogrammed now.

no you dont have to go to just renault for these items!!!!! i was in the same situation with my 182 when i brought it.

i went to my mate at a local shoe repairs ( who also does most car keys) he got me a genuine renault key cut it to my car and coded it in for me for a whole £80 including the key

so shop around or if u based in derby then i will get you one as he has to have your car there to programe it.

ok cheers guys I was in timpsons and a guy put it a machine and said the nearest place they do them is gateshead and i am in edinburgh so i wasnt going there. I will get the yellow pages out and start phoning. I certainly wont be going to renault I have had clios for seven years and never been to them once for anything and dont plan to either.

I had to get one done at Renault last year which was £150ish, I tried the local key place who stuck the key in a machine and said they couldnt do it, I think they can only program certain types of key.

I ordered a brand new key from my local Renault today. It was for the whole shebang; blade, remote blip etc and takes around 3-5 working days to arrive. They then need your car for an hour or so to program the new key to the car. Was £200 altogether. I tried contacting a few auto locksmiths in my area but they either didn't get back to me or couldn't do it.

The AA came out to mine this morning at 9am, genuine renault key cut and coded. Took him 15 mins max! £120+Vat. He said Renault often call him out because he can get hold of the keys quicker than they can!

I have just been quoted £159.46 from Renault for a spare key for my X Reg Clio, anybody know someone in Lancashire who can do it cheaper?!
