GFX Card Problems. UGRENT HELP!

Right my gfx card has started playing up and now when i boot my computer up nothing appears on the screen. I cant even revert back to the on board graphics card as its disabled in the bios so nothing at all loads up. what can i do? the gfx card is turning out to be shite! All help needed please people

Reset the bios to defaults (jumper on ur motherboard) that will probably enable the onboard gfx by default if ur other gfx card is removed.

Does the orange light stay on your monitor rather then turn green when you power up?

If so......remove graphics card and reboot, turn off PC insert graphics card and try again.

that or take the card out all together and make ssure you put the vga socket on the motherboard vga output....

it was working fine for a while then all of a sudden i had to keep booting it in vga mode and the restarting. i thought it may of been drivers so updated them as its a brand new gfx card!

The monitor just doesn't detect a signal but only the other day it was starting all the way upto the boot screen where it says the OS and the little bar goes passed on the screen then it would just turn the monitor off as if the signal died like the mode wasn't supported or something!?

I think i'll try just removing the gfx card and putting it back in first but i don't think it will be that simple!

Reset the BIOS as mentioned above.. Done by moving some of teh Jumpers or.. if you can't do that. Remove the BIOS battery for a while.

i won't lose any stupid settings like hdd will format its self? i just have a shuttle so am going to have to basically take everything out inc.hdd's/cd drives/fan/power supply. YAY for smallness!

oh by the way...what would be causing this fault? Is it a faulty gfx card or some settings in the bios? i must admit i did play with some settings in the bios as my proccessor speed changed from 1.8ghz to 1.35ghz which i thought was strange so had a ***** around in the bios...if in doubt hit some buttons and hope for the best

Bios settings shouldn't really affect the gfx card i wouldn't have thought. It could be a faulty card or something to do with the power supply (faulty or not enough power) make sure the power plug is plugged into the gfx card if it has 1.

dont think it does. trying to think what it is off top of my head, geforce 6200 256mb agp card i think ^o) thats just a guess as i cant remember!

UPDATE!!

Removed GFX and put back in...nothing happened still no life

Removed BIOS battery and booted up with monitor in GFX card and it started. It said the BIOS settings had been reset and it fixed my CPU problem!

The PC started and after about 2seconds the screen just went off, i did get into windows though and i didn't do anything over ordinary to make it go off!

There is what looks to be a plug on the GFX card for power to go to the mobo but only last week the comp was working fine and i was playing games etc as it is now!?

Any ideas as its winding me up

Does it require a seperate power source?? a molex plug like the ones on the hard drives etc

i guess not seen as though its been working without one but it does have the 2little pins for the plug but i dont believe i got one in the box when i bought it!

I had identical symptoms on a friends PC I looked at, tried everything mentioned here and it was the motherboard at fault

when did you get the original? if its from PC world you can probably take it back and swap it!! it must be a knackered card in my opinion

i've only had it maybe a month? Don't know where receipt is now though tehee
