Glass cover

Will glass cover on my insurance cover scratched glass from a wiper? My back window has a ring around it from the rear wiper scratching it at some point and I want it changed, will this be covered? I'm with endsleigh and going to be claiming anyway as I have a chipped screen. Quote from their site...

"I have a windscreen extension:
If your windscreen or windows of your vehicle have been damaged please call our freephone Glassline"

Surely it should be covered as long as I pay the excess?

They don't
but you have 4 years no claims protected, with a claim.

My brother had a badly scratched windscreen from an ice scraper or something and they refused to cover it.

I've got a scratch on my windscreen from my wiper. I'm going to claim soon. If they say no, I shall put a brick through it 2 weeks later, and then claim.

yeah id just hit it with a spanner so its cracked but not shattered then you can still drive, i need to do mine as i drove past a gritter on a private road at about 110 and its ruined my windscreen, cant see anything through it in the sun or rain as its got so many chips

Any ideas? Will this be covered or will the glass need to be cracked? Surely as long as I pay the excess they should cover it as it is "damaged"

Well I would say a mark from a wiper is general wear and tear, and would not qualify for a claim as its not accidental damage, and definitely would not fail an MOT.
I had my windows smashed on my old car, direct line said it would not affect my premium, they lied!
They may let you keep your no claims discount, but they still push your premium up.
I would just pay to get it done yourself if it were me, the excess is about £50 and they will probably bump your premium up £50, also from a mate I know in the trade, Autoglass (and the other companies insurers use) rush jobs and do not fit windows properly due to being on a commission rate.
