going to be a nervous 2 weeks or so...

  An orange one
made a stupid f**k up mistake yesterday after leaving donny show..

travelling out of a 40mph zone in the v6..i was stuck behind the biggest granny driver ever in a ford ka, faced with losing the rest of my convoy and not knowing the way to go..I saw the nat limit signs about 150 yards away and passed her, didnt really look at the speed, wasnt that fast though..and as i tucked back in..a f**king policeman stepped out of the hedge with his hand up...i s**t myself and tried to stop..but there was no lay-by or anything, he had a bike and a speed gun, though im sure he wasnt using the gun, so i slowed right down..and no-body came after me..

a mate said an unmarked car turned round after me..but then turned off without pulling me...

f**king IDIOT!! feel so stupid! road was perfectly clear though, so the overtaking wasnt the problem...

anyone else ever done similar?

i wouldn't worry about it. if they were going to pull you they would have done it there and then.

thats what the general opinion from my mates was...he got a good look at my plate though, just hope I dont get a court summons or anything through the post..

I love my license clean! :(

If it was just him then nothing will come of it. If it was a buddy in an unmarked that also witnessed it then you could expect a summons.

This is just an opinion though, best bet is to ask on pepipoo and they'll be able to make a more educated guess than all the 'knowledgable' people on here...

fletch, im sure he could have..he looked round for a good few seconds as I passed..

and as my private plate is very distinguishable, then he probably has it :(

They cant do anything unless they pull you over. Have heard this direct from a coppers mouth.

maybe the raised hand was silmply telling you to slow down, as he probably heard the V6 coming if you were gunning it past the Ka.

Sounds like he wasnt using the gun, so tried his best to get you to slow down by raising his hand in a "slow down" manner?

My Dad did a similar sort of thing a few months back...

He was leaving a village (40 limit) and put his foot down to overtake a tractor about 100 yards from the nat speed limit. Just as he was level with the tractor a guy in black jumped from the hedge and pointed the laser gun at him.

Dad was going around 50-55 and when he looked in the rear view mirror the copper was standing in the road waving his arms.

Dad went for about 5 miles then bottled it as didn't want to get done for failing to stop when requested (don't know the fancy name).

He went back to the site and spoke to the policemen. The copper said well done for coming back or he would have taken it further as he said he had taken down the number plate.... The copper gave dad the 3 points and 60 quid fine and took down some details. On the paper the plate was written as FF52DPT. Dad's plate was FE52OPT.

How unlucky can you get!

I know who you're talking about, and I'll arrange for someone to 'have words'. He's been approached several times by his superiors for hiding out of sight with his speed gun and I believe he may be on final warning.

Bit of background on the above before I get shot at by the law brigade, he nearly caused a serious accident in the village down the road from there where he's based when he jumped out of a bush to wave at someone with a loud exhaust doing 30 (myself) not realising he'd just jumped out in front of a double decker bus which then swerved, nearly took off my wing and travelled 100yds down the road on 2 wheels...

Complete tosser, he came for a drink in my local and 30seconds after sitting down was asked by the landlord to leave because the general opinion of the other customers was that he was a wanker... And didn't want a fight in his pub.

Unless he recorded your speed then he can't do you for jack s**t....

Even then he's incompetent...

Prior to the incident described above he caught me (kinda fairly) doing 37 in a 30 (within 25yds of the 30 limit, I know you're supposed to slow down before the limit but it is from a National and it's not like I was still doing 60 when I came into the 30), gave me the NIP and I was furious, rolled up with the NIP and smoked it and 6 months later got a letter telling me I owed them £60 which I paid, and didn't get the points...

Goon.

i went through a specs area near dartford today, didnt even notice it and was going circa 95 in the girlfriends car, she didnt see them earlier so will be interesting to see if a letter drops through the door soon!

That's a sh1tter Colin - I hope it goes ok for you. :(

Fecking granny drivers - they really p1ss me right off. You get stuck on A-roads with national bloody speed limit signs and they sit there at 35-40mph. I followed one the other day and she was weaving about the road, all over the place. Not bloody right.

Really, really winds me up with old giffers.

99% certain - will have been an off-road sort of bike (if you're into bikes it's a Suzuki DR - IIRC an old school 350) and he will have had a road helmet on, a complete inability to ride at any speed and his helmet will have been off or flipped up with his badly-trimmed beard on display...

Dont worry about it mate.

Its out of your control now so dont worry for the next 2 weeks.

Just forget all about it and cross the bridge when you come to it. chances are you'll be fine.

Absolute rubbish unfortunately, as seb will tell you when he shows up on the thread I'm sure ;) A copper is considered a reliable witness and also an expert witness, if he/she says you were doing something and writes a statement to that effect you can get done anyway!

Hopefully you should be fine though mate, chances are the coppers maybe did feel like stopping you but they then observed you were driving fine or just had second thoughts about how bad what they witnessed in the first place was, and decide it against it.

No one can say for certain what will happen, but if they got your plate number then there was no need for them to stop you.

Im sorry to say but it was a really bad idea not to stop. If you consider the worse case sceniro for both situations i would take 3 points and a fine over a court apperance and possible ban.

Anyway mate i wish you luck and drive safley.
