Good budget polishes?

  FF Titanium 182
After a polish that will lift minor scratches and to help restore dull paint work in areas. Any ideas?

A good budget d/a polisher would work better than hand polishing too, its also really hard to damage the paintwork with no experience using a da one, although i would recommend a good one rather than budget.

It won't remove deep scratches, nothing will, as you can't remove them without adding paint. It can remove light marring and minor swirls. It's a great cleanser and will freshen up dead, oxidized and faded paint

I used auto glum super resin polish on a recent clean of my car and the results where really good, for some deepest marks and scratches I used T Cut and then SRP to polish up :)

I've got some megs 80 & 83 that I've hardly used if you have a machine polisher. £5 and you can have the both.

Hi there KyL3,

Ourselves we do a hand polish that is designed to remove light marks and mask heavier ones. Its also perfect on faded areas. We complete a test on a flat bonnet. You can find that test here: http://www.autofinesse.co.uk/tripple-in-action-on-faded-paint/

The polish im referring to is our Tripple all in one polish and can be found here: http://shop.autofinesse.co.uk/tripple-500ml

Hope this helps,

Joe

Hi joe

do you need protect Tripple once applied with wax/sealant or does the built in one suffice?

For bad scratches I have used Megs 105 and 205 with a DA. They got this scuff out my rear bumper after some prat hit me and drove off!

You can use it by hand as well and its just as effective, just might take a few more goings over than it did with the DA.

I also used AutoGlym SRP for the rest of the car to help mask and buff out the swirls that were in the paint. Its good but unless you seal it, the finish will wash off in a matter of weeks. I have recently moved to G3 past wax as its bloody easy to use and the finish is just as good, if not better than the DoDo juice iv been using.

You can get the G3 wax from Halfords i believe, if you want off the shelf wax, although it will cost you more than if you order online. As for the polish. Again you can get the AutoGlym from Halfords off the shelf in a large or small bottle, and the Megs 105 and 205 can be ordered as a pair from HERE or if you go to their eBay shop i think they offer it with some cloths and pads to help apply it and buff it off for around the same price. :)

Hope that helps pal

SRP is decent enough.

You really would be better getting some sort of machine polisher if your looking at paint correction though.

I dont really use mine all that often but if i get some light marks then i just give it a going over and its gone in a couple of minutes rather than standing there for ages going at it by hand.

For the money the autofinesse tripple looks good as it has a wax in it already which would seal any work done.

Hand polishing can be really rewarding when done propely though! :p

I tested out some new products on my mates car to see how they worked on black paint, all done by hand.

That was with Megs 105 and 205, a glaze and wax coat. Hand polishing gets some amazing results if you take your time.

Im not familiar with megs but is that a cutting polish or a filler?

Looks good but obviously if its just fillers then the scratches will still be there

the 105 is a cutting polish, the 205 is a finishing polish to buff the clear coat back up. :) I tend to couple it with a polymer Glaze to help fill and remaining scratches that i missed by hand and then wax it all in!

Great improvement

Great improvement

Cheers. It wasn't perfect as can be seen in the last picture, still a few swirls and scratches, and the residue around the indicator and bump strips. I was just playing with product combinations and hand polishing cloths to see what would work. The rest of the car was bloody horrible! haha

Hahaha! What ever you do! Don't apply it with your face! ;)

depends on what you are applying. For the cutting and finishing polish I use soft microfiber pads and to buff it off I use a clean microfiber cloth. Then glaze I use another microfiber cloth to apply and buff off. Wax I tend to use a G3 waffle applicator. They are bloody brilliant things for applying a good coat of wax and buffing off...standard microfiber cloth again! Haha.

We do offer a code for you guys and its: CLIOSPORT

And in answer to your previous question Tripple does have a bit of protection, well about one month however we do recommend that you use a wax or sealant afterwards.

@JAMason what sort of hand pressure were you using with the megs? and how long on a panel?

Sorry for the late reply, iv been on holiday. About half an hour or 45 minuets on that panel. The pressure varied from pad to pad and the differing products. Just usining common sense and your eye you can work out what pressure to apply and if it needs going over more than once. :)

I purchased a bottle of Tripple on Saturday at FCS, was chatting to a mate today and he proper p!ssed on my chips telling me it's rubbish :( he said he bought a bottle before and sold it on because he couldn't get on with it.

Now obviously I am still dying to try it. I have used SRP, megs 205 in the past.
What I want to know, will I be impressed with Tripple?
I want to be, I've read so many good things about it on here in the past, hence why I got some

Cheers

Cherry glaze is easier to use. I just find tripple sets too quickly.
