Good, cheap, entry-level Android?

  S3, Polo
My mum's expressed an interest in a touch-screen phone of some description. I'm thinking it'd make a good present for Christmas, but don't want to spend too much on one, on the off-chance she hates it and leaves it in a drawer for years.

It'll be used predominantly for email, phone calls, texts and as a personal organiser/ diary.

Can anyone recommend a suitable device (sub £150 would be ideal)? I've been looking at the Galaxy Ace as a start point - not sure if this is any good though...

  DON'T SEND ME PM'S!!
Galaxy ace sounds ideal. Nokia lumia 800 might be worth a look too, its not android but the wp7 interface is quite beginner friendly.

Thanks chaps, I'll investigate those options!

WP7 is an option for beginners? Interesting...

HTC wildfire s. really cheap, about £60 for a second hand one In good condition. Not bad Internet speed either due to having a duel core processor.
