Good leather cleaner/conditioner

  172
Just some suggestions for the above really.. its for the newly purchased Cooper S and also a wax or something that really brings out British Racing Green

cheers

You can't condition leather. It's dead and has already been treated. Whatever you put on leather will just end up on your jeans.

Soap and water is the best for leather really.

Surely not correct

There was a guy on here a while back who wrote a lot about it. He worked in manufacturing car leather.

You can put stuff on it, it might look good, but it really just rubs onto your jeans and does nothing for your leather.

Wadaloadashite.

If you don't know, don't post a reply in a thread asking for help.

The Gliptone Leather twins are good - as are the LLT leather products. Depends on budget really. Swissvax leather Milk is also excellent.

Kev/Forearms, what's good for getting colour back into an area that's taken some abuse? It's like a scuff...

I'm sure I saw someone mention some stuff, I don't mind if it's needs to be applied once every few months or something...

You get repair kits off the net ect... they're ideal for older cars like jags ect.. and i'm sure you could find a decent match. Needs a google!

I've got fudge all idea what I'm looking for but nvm...

The seats are going soon and that's the only thing that's not perfect, I was just hoping to get the stuff or at least recommend it to whoever they're going to.

The question was cleaning and protecting leather, was it not?

You're telling me I can't clean leather seats... What's coming off 8 year old seats then? Pixy dust?

Now now, don't you two get your microfibres in a knot.... I think Kev was referring to being able to condition it.

P.s - Forearms, how does Thursday suit one?

Cleaning is fine. As per that that thread but all this conditioning and feeding is b****cks.

It can't be condition. Read up and see why leather cracks.

Sorry, that was more aimed at the link provider.

I didn't know leather couldn't be conditioned, but it can definitely be cleaned protected.

Yeah but the way to protect it is cleaning it. Stuff left on the surface is the damaging part. You only need to clean it and leave it.

yes i meant cleaning/protecting it as the seats are immaculate and i wnt 2 keep them that way

If you read the link I put up, it will tell you that all you need is a bit of warm water and a cloth.

You don't need to spend a small fortune on a cleaning product.

I still hold issue with this as you do need a cleaner. Technically all you need on paint work is water, but you will also need degreasers and other items. Leather cleaners will lift muck from the seats.

The conditioning side of things I totally accept I was wrong and appreciate the knowledge you've provided fella!
