Got rear ended today

Depends on how severe the whiplash is. I had whiplash after an accident in July a couple of years ago. As it was going through the solicitors, I didn't see a doctor until September and he diagnosed minor whiplash. I rested mainly for the time in between, couldn't work due to not being able to lift anything, but still went out to see mates as long as wasn't putting pressure on my back I was fine.

All of you saying premium will be higher regardless of fault should try a few quotes. I think you will find with a lot of insurers it will make no difference. I know for a FACT that my insurance has not been affected by a non-fault claim

Generally that's true but I did a quote with and without a non-claim accident on policy and it made £50 extra having it on! When I had a go at them about it, they said because of my fault claim (declared on both quotes), that the non-fault accident ment having 2 accidents on my policy meant a higher quote! So my car insurance cost me an extra £50 cos of some bint's inability to check it was clear before doing a u-turn on a 60mph road!

thats the BS covering there arses i think, i mean by the time youve painted the bumper etc your looking at a fair bit

I cant wait to see what curtosy car i get, they said it would be of the same power (ish) the insurer thought it would be a golf gti or something :) should be fun for a few days :approve:

I did wander with the price of the quote from the Bodyshop :S

Who you insured with ?

I thought thay'd just give you a gay little 1 litre run about as a courtesy car ?

Or didi you pay more for a courtesy car of the same power

Just out of cusiosity - what do most of you pay for insurance?

Im 28,M, and mine is £430 fully c, and i have my bint on there too who is only 23............

C.

I'm 25 and i'm £300 and something Fully Comp with 4yrs Ncb:(

f**k paying more than a grand to insure a car :( :nono:

How can someone with whiplash be walking around for a couple of days before seeing a doctor?

I hope they investigate you, find you making a fraudulent claim and void your insurance.

wise up!!

how was he "walking around for DAYS"?!

the accident happened on sunday, now how many doctors surgeries are open on a sunday? none up here. so he went to see the doctor at the earliest possible time which was the next day. his doctor has confirmed that something is not right, and i am sure that the correct course of action will have been taken by his doctor. its whiplash, not paralysed from the neck down. when i had whiplash after coming off a quad, i felt fine until a couple days later when my neck just completely stiffened up. didnt stop me going to work, but still bloody hurt! and if that suffering is caused by somebody elses carelessness and lack of concentration, then i would be using the appropriates channels to see that something is done. be it a cash settlement or private medical attention at the other persons insurance' expense, then so be it.

I wasn't gonna post this but f**k it, i agree with Darren here i'm afraid :)

Why jump in with a reply when you don't know the true details :(

i would have to agree with him, why shouldnt he claim.. im pretty sure that about 9/10 claims are made for wiplash from rear end shunts..

Mate, by the sounds of it, you were lucky to just come out with wiplash.. like you said. There is a system in place.. and sure people make mistakes, we are all human, but you can bet your bottom dollar that if you were that one to make that mistake, they will take you to the f**king cleaners.. claim for this and that!

No way should anyone pay for other people's incompetence (spelling)

Get what ever you can mate!!

cheers for all the sympathetic and nice comments guys :) tbh im not really fussed about the courtesy car, its just what the guy said at elephant:) Everything is on track now and was really pleased with the speed of the insurer booking it in to get fixed etc:cool:

will update as progress begins:D

If it does go through the insurance, I hope everything is declared on your policy.
Solicitors acting for the guilty persons insurance company will explore every avenue not to payout even if their client is obviously 100% liable...

Thats what i thought, unless you've paid slightly more on top of your premium to help pay towards a Gti courtesy car ;)

And its pot luck usually as said above :(

Its cheaper for them to give you a 1.0 or 1.2 than a Gti ;)

not relevent in a third party fault claim.

Wouldnt be uncommon for your own insurance comapny to ask for the addition premium for you mods, but it is not a reason for the other insurance company not to pay. Wouldnt stand up in court.

They would never get away with it, you can never be in the blame for being rear ended in the eyes of insurance apparently which makes sense I suupose....it would be very difficult to prove.
