Hey network guys,

I need to start using some network monitoring tools to monitor the different network scopes which we have, uptime network traffic between sites, devices etc - graphically. What's everyone using at work.....:S

as the man above says nagios or cacti or mrtg all produce very nice graphs (mrtg needing a bit more work) all unix based and open source so they are free. require snmp. I think cacti and nagios run using RRD tool

We use PRTG in our data centre / ISP which is good but I think that ones paid for.

nagios is fun and from memory you can intergrate nagios and cacti together to give lots of results. When i did work exp I setup nagios to email us if anything printer became "low" on toner so we could automatically order some and log it so at the end of the year we could see what was most cost affected. quite fun if I do say so!

You can query anything that runs SNMP with nagios and a few windows services / disk space if you get the windows addon (Again free) if you need help setting any up give me a shout sure
