graphics card

im looking at a cheap graphics card that can give me alright performance to play some games on my pc again at the moment its a built in radeon express 200 lump o'shite

im wanting to spent no more than say 70

pc is athlon x2 5000 with 2gb ram with xp

what do you suggest

pci-e 16 slot only one of them though
i use the 360 to game but i have games i like to play on the pc rts ones etc so i dont want to spend a fortune

The 8600's are ok for most stuff, dont expect to play crysis on one but it'll handle plenty of recent games.

Have you tried Company of Heroes : Opposing Forces, m8? I've recently put it back on my PC and its a cracking RTS game. Based on the age-old Germans vs. World scenario of World War 2 with some really detailed unit animation in it.

I put a 7900GT in a pc I built for a mate along with, 2gb ram and an e2160 overclocked to 2.6Ghz.

Card ~ £70 and plays cod4 well enough.

By well enough I mean it was rigged up to my 22 inch monitor and ran at 1680 x 1050 on top settings and was rarely jerky.

Having read all the above the 256mb 8800 might be your best bet, depening on budget.

Lol! It's well worth it if you manage to sort the card out. I've finished the US and German campaigns - and I'm a couple of missions into the British one.

It 'may' just be heading in front of C&C as my favourite RTS title. A superb game.

i have always loved c&c and i must admit im wanting to get the latest one running too i was playing it at 640x480 with everything set to low or off lol

YHPM - hope it was of some use... I've done some digging as well and currently there aren't any new ones for that range in the pipeline - nVIDIA are set on their new top model and ATI are working on a new seriies altogether which will probably start around £150...

You'll run CoH with that, no probs. I've still got twin 7900GTX's in mine and there really has to be loads going on on the screen for it to slow down in the slightest.

Just started the mission last night with the Royal Commandos attacking a German airbase. Quality stuff.
