Dealers will consider how much it will cost to refurbish scruffy vehicles. Often they have to decide whether a car goes to auction or on a forecourt. If it goes on the forecourt the dealer stands to make more – maybe even £2000 more. This will be reflected in the part-exchange deal.
My first car was a Ka (stop laughing!!!) I bought for £2200 on a R plate, 25k miles on the clock I think at the time, was about 5 years old. Sold it 3 years later with 40k miles, but looking like new, for £2k.....so £100 depreciation a year, pretty darn good!!
