Astra VXR 17/05/07
I went out today in my shiny new 182,desperate for a play.
Clocked up some motorway miles,the wind was mad but i thought nothing of it.I was on the motorway for about 45 mins and had a pleasant drive,parked up and did a bit of shopping.When i got back to the car i saw something hanging down under the front end.Gutted,the front splitter had come away drivers side corner slightly and underneath and slightly behind that there is some sort of plastic shield,it had been ripped open and split.I had no way of repairing it so i took my chances and went back along the motorway to my dealer.
To say i was p****d off is an understatment,i hit nothing,drove over nothing and was driving as carefull as i ever have.The only explanation i can come up with is that the wind has ripped it open if it was loosely fitted.I told the dealer i was not taking responsability because it was not my fault and there is no sign of damage to back up it being my fault.Naffed off its happened,not even 24 hours old.It looked quite bad but i dont think its as bad as it looks.
Anyway,as its Saturday there was nobody in the servie bay so i had to call out the AA to come and secure the flapping bit of shield,he also failed at trying to refix the splitter so had to use a self tapper into the bumper,good job its where you cant see it.The fittings for the splitter are awfull,im suprised how it stays on.
Going back Monday to have new shields fitted,the dealer was good and said they will not charge,lets see if they stick to this !
Pain in the arse new cars lol I have another car and i wash it twice a year reagrdless if it needs it or not ! ,park and never bother locking it,use the cheapest fuel,dont get it serviced but do the odd oil change,park it anywhere in carparks,overtake gritters and nothing ever happens to it,not a chip or blemish or thief in sight !!
