GW 200 Photoshoot with new camera

Bought a new camera a couple of weeks ago and been testing it out at a couple of locations:

Camera is a Canon EOS 5D MKIII

First four are with a Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS:

1/125 sec @ f/4, ISO 125
1/125 sec @ f/4, ISO 100
1/250 sec @ f/11, ISO 100
1/500 sec @ f/8, ISO 100

Last two are with a Sigma 50mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM, with Hoya HD CPL:

1/60 sec @ f/2.8, ISO 100
1/100 sec @ f/2, ISO 100

By "jumpy" do you mean the bokeh of the trees in shots 2 and 6?

Yep, that was me. I'd not long had it then. Missed this year's meeting unfortunatly!

Regarding plans for this I was going to get a re-trim but decided I'd rather have a new camera, I do have this to get painted at some stage:

So projectors probably be on the agenda, but not 200 ones!

why do you have a 197 too? or are you making it pretty? im genuinely confused at that last pic lol!

It's a 197 bumper I bought to go on. Even as a 200 owner I'm under no illusion that the 197 front end is much nicer!

This way I get all the 200 refinements and rear end, with the 197 front, but mainly a car new enough to have a CL10 plate on, which will never be possible with a 197 (unless it's a very very late one, which I've never heard of).

No, 200 and 197 wings are the same. Only the bumper, bumper grilles and lights are different. Fog lights might be too, not got that far yet, but headlights use the same connectors.

you getting the xenons with the cornering lights?

No, they need a whole new loom as all the wiring is different. Projectors or the standard lights are just a plug-in swap. I drive my brothers 197 (LY one in my other thread in here) which has xenons and I reckon the difference isn't that noticeable. For me it's not worth the hassle or expense.

lovely cam, how much did the f/1.4 set you back? mates just bought a tamron f/2.8 and its lovely. its hard to describe, did u use single focus points or multiple?

The 1.4 was £360, more than the Canon 1.4, but not as much as the 1.2L. It's great value but the quality control is a bit iffy so you might get a couple of duffers before you find a good one. I think I got lucky as mine seems to be OK.

The first four were with multiple points, the two with the Sigma using single point.

I find it strange you are putting the 197 front on. I know the 200 is a better car than the 197, but you could have saved so much by just buying a 197. I are confused.

Reasons for getting a 200 are in a previous post, mainly the ability to put a CL10 plate on it - car needs to be 2010 or newer and the last 197s are 2009 so not possible.

You've kinda answered your own question too, the 200 is a better car (albeit not by that much!) and sometimes better trumps saving money

I have no idea why more people haven't swapped to the 197 front end. The 200 has always had a poorly designed front end.

Nice mate, same as mine, can't understand why you want to change to a 197 front end tho 200 is nicer!!

Will you be selling your headlights when u change? I'm after a pair of the black ones.

The 197 is undeniably the better looking car, but it does look dated next to the 200 imo. I'd keep the 200 front end tbh.
