H&R rear adjusters...

Can someone post a picture of there's and how they sit ? I was at angel works today and a 172 cup had them fitted differntly but i couldnt work out how..

Basically for anyone who has them i have one nut underneath rear beam, one nut on top of rear beam and platform through the middle..

172 cup seemed to just have the platform above the rear beam and nothing else....

cheers

Yours is fitted correctly. One part above the arm, one below, both are screwed together then the actual platform the spring rests on screws through the centre.

Yes thats my old cup...... I bolted them up from underneath so the spring platform sits on the trailing arm...... In effect it makes it another ten mm lower, as it removes the need for that nut that sits inbetween the platfrom and arm. They cannot be adjusted in this way. It was done to make the rear sit lower ;)

I have tried this mod the other day but the adjuster wouldnt wind all the way down to the platform? Left about 5mm gap. Is this how yours are?

No the adjusters are still used.

Basically you have the adjuster that the springs sits on and the part that goes under the platform and these are then wound together. But mine doe not wind all the way together so there is about 5mm play which is abit unsafe.

^^ but in the pic i can see he has removed the upper part of the adjuster , making the spring sit on the platform instead of the upper part ?!

to me it looks like this anyway ?

No the adjuster is still there is yo look hard enough.

I though about removing the adjuster and having the set up the same as original but the H&R spring is too short and when you jack the back end up the spring falls out!!!

He has removed the big nut-thing from in between which is used to raise it up has'nt he ? I can see the "hat" part still being there where the spring sits on, one thing missing is the big nut .. (?!)

Yes the nut from the middle has been removed. That lowered mine abit 5mm but still left a 5mm gap.

Was wondering how he got the "hat" right down to the platform?

What you do is keep the nut underneath, remove the one that sits on top, screw together so the thraed from the underneath nut is poking up but not all the way, tighten to the point where if you go anymore the platform will rise, refit springs and shocks and thats it..

Its perfectly safe but i used some threadlock to be sure. Did two trackdays at silverstone and it handled perfectly, just a tad of understeer due to low tread.

If you want a pic of how mine is sitting look in Media > Clio > CW04 NGN at Trax

Cheers

Simply...

Remove nut with the small allen key bolt, screw platform down into nut underneath to a point where you go any furthur it will strat to raise the platform.

Refit springs etc.

Done

Nice one r8byb. That's how i had it but my underneath nut is dead tight so i just need to unwind that abit off the platform and bobs ya uncle.

Was thinking of getting a mate to machine a few threads off the bottom nut so that everything can be tightly locked together underneath.

Spot on. This way it keeps everything running true through the beam :) no slack or anything, it all bolts up nice and tight. Never took any decent pics of the mod though

Do you think this mod would be possible on KWs? Not sure how they differ to the H&Rs? Think the set up looks very similar, I need mine lower...

I've got billies (similar to H&R's but a slightly different rear setup) and I removed the adjuster ring and it sit perfectly now :approve: It's probably about another 10mm tops lower now.
