I had a crash in my old car over a year ago now, around 14 months. i flipped my car so it was a write off, but in the crash i knocked over a lamppost.
So the ambulance and police came and the lamppost man to turn of the electricity to the lamppost.
i didnt claim on my insurance as it was a cheap old clio and no1 else was involved and wanted to keep the no claims.
Now 14 months later the local council has decided to send me a notice saying i ow them £800 for the lamppost.
Regardless of no prior notice or notice at the time of going to be charge for the lamppost, and if they said i wud have to pay for it i wud have claimed on the insurace (as i wudnt save £800 for noclaims)
Do i have a leg to stand on as its been over a year and no prior notice or lettter that i was going to have to pay this fine?
Regards Ricky.
