though it can be beneficial to have an amp with greater power output than the sub is rated at - better to have an amp running at three quarters power to get x loudness than running at full power - that way you'll have less chance of overworking the amp

You just have to have self-restraint with the volume button... lol

Could be an idea to get yourself onto the TalkAudio forums and see what's hot and what's not, and you may also be able to get something secondhand perhaps. Much better value for money that way if you buy off someone you know won't rob you blind or take the piss
