Handbrake light(s)

I drove my mates 172 last night, and pulled the hand brake up.... two lights come up, one light more than what comes up on my 1.2.... the 'stop' light comes on, aswell as the usual (( ! )) light. Whereas mine only has the (( ! )) light.

Why does mine not light up?? Which car has the problem?

ok this is weird, cause for the past week now, when ive been driving - randomly the (( ! )) light as well as the stop light flashes outa the blue a few times, kinda worrying, seein as the ((!)) is the handbrake light as far as a know. Anyone any ideas. please dont tell me my engine on its last legs lol.

Brake oil fluid level. The (!) is actually the brake fluid level warning indicator! It just so happens that some cars use it as the hand-break light. On some cars (P) is used.

I'd check your brake fluid level pronto! They STOP comes on when it's low!

Yeah definately check the brake fluid.

Had it on my old 306, Thought it was the handbrake light lite up when driving (so ignored it LOL) shortly became appartent that it had a split brake pipe and pissed out all the brake fluid, and promply lost all braking!!!

he drove my ph quick, the light comes on when my handbrake is UP not when im driving lol nothing wrong

and the brake fluid will be low because the brake pads will be low ...

so dont check the fluid, check your pads !

Nice to meet u Mach... tidy car u have, but other than the bad points, but what can u expect from the highest mileage car ever lol
