Hands Free Kits

  53 plate 172

My new 172 is due in anyday now.....allegedly, I wont hold my breath as Ive been waiting since 25th July !!!

I decided to have the pre telephone equipment put in as an option for the sake of £95 but to my surprise Ive been quoted an extra £200 by Renault to fit a hands free kit.

I think this is a bit steep, especially as I change my phone every 12 months so would have to have a new cradle each time.

I was just after some ideas or advice on alternatives etc.

Cheers

Hmm, bluetooth one? I think they work with any phone with bluetooth, so no changing cradles.

my friend fits car phone and gps stuff. what phone you got and what area you in, ill get him to quote you. he will fit the kit at your house or place of work.

Ye if I was getting full in car kit for my p800 I would get a bluetooth one, all you got to do if you phone is in a bag is chuck it in the car and if you recieve a call it will automagically come through the in car hands free.

only down side of the blue tooth kits as there not in a cradle they are not charging your phone and if the phones in your pocket you cant see whos calling you or have to pick it up to see whos calling.

Gambler...this is only a suggestion but did u know halfords are doing a different type of in car hands free kit fitted for 99.99

The idea behind them is u have a v.basic spring loaded phone holder that is stuck to the dashboard of the vehicle (which will hold almost any phone) and then the brains of the handsfree kit get hidden behind the dashboard of the car. then the microphone is mounted up on the top of the A pillar and the cable fed to the brain unit. A little junction box about of a matchbox is then mounted on the lower side of the dashboard and a phone specific cable then plugs into this and into ur phone. Obvious advantage is that if u ever change ur phone u can just buy a new lead from halfords for 17 quid.

In my honest opinion as a fitter of these units mind they only tend to work great with certain phones. pm me for more details
