Hard Drive Caddy?! Computer dudes help.

Ok, after dropping my laptop and screwing up the rotar arm or RPM on my hard drive I got a new one for my laptop, but now I need to transfer the information from my old one to this new jobbie.

Nowhere around here seems to sell hard drive caddy's for a SATA style hard drive. They're all IDE. Did a bit of a search on the net, and found this...

Is that any good and will it do the job? If not, any other options would be super ;)

Ta.

But isnt that for desktop PCs? The hard drive in laptops is 2.5" is it not? I dont know a great deal about all this, just need a transfer device! lol

Yeah, was just using mine as an example. It will be fine. They are pretty good and much better than just an external HDD as you can swap the drives around.

So that one would do the job a trick or treat? I just plonk my old laptop hard drive in there and plug it into my laptop and start transfering?

If you've knackered the hard drive mechnically, don't hold much hope in getting anything off of it, without sending it away.

Copying data is fine as long as the mechanics are OK.. (deleted files, formatted etc.. you can normally get back fine).

And, if you do send it away, it won't be cheap..
