hard drive enclosure

i need to remove the hdd from my laptop but im bit confussed which type of enclosure i need sata or ide :S

Start by taking it out And it will all become obvious

Chances are if it less than 2 years old it will be SATA

its a 2.5 wd 160gig

so if i place it into one it will be read like an external hdd in another computer even if i have win7 installed on it ?

Yea its SATA.

IDE was made redundant years ago.

now ive managed to get it kinda working but it has lots of pink rectangles all over the screen as soon as i install the graphics drivers it will bsod so the card is fried

will it suddenly go completly
