Hardwired SatNav

  Black Gold Cup Packed 182
Allo, Ive got a trafficmaster satnav in my car, the thing is its a unit that is hardwired into the car and clips on the dash. Was wondering if it is possible to make it detachable, as i dont trust the area which i live in.

Cheers.

I really need to be able to take it out at night, as i live in a shite area, otherwise ill have to sell it, although its a really good system and i wanna keep it :)

Why on earth is that fixed?? v odd. Does it have features that a portable one doesn't?

Is it just that wire preventing you from taking it out the car? If so you could find out what cables are in there, cut it and solder some plugs on.
Tbh if it were me, I'd remove it completely, sell it on the bay and then buy a normal portable sat nav.

Alternatively, move to a nicer area ;-)

its got a 3 year subscription to TrafficMaster, checks if there is any traffic on ur route etc. and it has a built in phone which can take incoming calls, and theres also an option on it to connect to a live operator which can help you with ur route, its got a seperate microphone and speaker. Its been profrassionally fitted my SmartNav and theyve put it in the most visible position.

s**t it's a pretty dapper system then, slightly more advanced than my navman!
Maybe you could fit it to a more discreet location in the vehicle? but theres not many places it could go I suppose....

Which is why i really wanna keep it as its a quality piece of kit. Just need an electronicly-minded person who may know how to do this :)
