Has anyone noticed....

Yeah, I started my own little thread about it. But nobodys looked lol. Noticed last night the car was pulling really well, it was -1deg on the display so the cold air must be doing something.

yeh but you have to have heaters, lights etc on so the positive effect the cold air has is taken away by the extra load on the alternator. Not that i'd notice on my 1.2 16v anyway.

Cold dense air + fuel = a bigger bang.

But its all relative. With the sh*t salt they put down the roads offer barely more traction than if they were covered in ice, so you can't exactly utilise the extra oooopmh.

Yep, but it's a shame that being so cold makes the road so dangerous, so you can't really use it to it's full potential.

No we're not, but you can feel it pull harder. Probably amounts to 1bhp I expect, or maybe just because the air is so dense? But you can feel it pull. Like in the summer, some days it feels breathless.

I think its my tyres. I have michelins on the back which are nice, and some pirellis on the front, not so nice. They keep me in check though and discourage me to thrash it, which in these months is probably a good thing.

not noticed one single bit of difference in the 172 but used to notice a difference in my 1.2 16v for some reason?

probably because im to busy thinking s**t i cant get traction!!

Which is far more preferable to the power understeer I was getting yesterday lol. Was seriously tiptoeing too. Take care folks it's very slippy out there!

In fact if I'd have been in a Cup and not an FF I'd have been in the hedge. Possibly dead. lol ;)

Think i've managed to get the ESP going more times pulling out of junction this week than I have in the whole time i've had it. Its not like i'm launching out of them lol its just so bloody slippy.

Sensible driving hat is one most of the time now, especially seeing as i'm driving through ungritted country lanes at 5 in the morning when its far from warm :dapprove:.

yea ive noticed its great - got wheel sping changing into 3rd the other night for the first time. Crap tyres mainly to blame I suspect..

Didn't really notice the difference until I moved the chrome guard away from my K&N filter. It had come loose and was just laying on it. Now it's breathing all that lovely cold air it's flying along and even sounds better. Yea, shame about the shite roads and traction problems.

Mine feels quite a bit quicker, everything feels soooo stiff for a few minutes though heh. Gearbox, clutch etc all feel like agricultural machinary (more so than usual) till I get out of the village.

It's not salt they spread on the road I've noticed in the last few years the council favour a greased ball bearing mix, fucktards!
