Have i been fleeced..

Booked my 182 in for its 12k service next monday.

AFTER A DISCUSSION ABOUT IT BEING 12K miles AND NOT 16k like they tried to tell me..

...£153, one step up from the regular clio service?? they told me.

Is this too much? I was expecting to pay a lot more..and will they destroy my car, or is it a simple oil and filter change.? Dont want to get my car back with a VERY low MPG showing or with an extra hundred miles on it.

If you think it is too high, get a quote from a couple of other dealers in your area and go with the cheapest.

lol mine was £200.

thankfully i had renault vouchers, but £96 labour is stupid.

And how would ONE come across these vouchers.?? Is that the same as the 10percent discount card from arnold clark?

All they do is change the oil ( which costs them £6.00 for 5 lts - in bulk quantity ) and change the oil filter - 8200033408 £6.05. They check the brake and water levels and top up your washer bottle level. They also check your running gear and brakes - this takes them roughly 1 HOUR. A standard service is booked at 1.2 hours - most dealers charge £55.00 an hour labour so lets add this up

1.2 hrs labour X £55.00 = £66.00

5 lts of oil which they sell at £20.00 (pay £6.00)

oil filter £6.05

service consumables ie - seat covers etc £3.00

sump washer £0.88

TOTAL £95.93 + 17.5% = £112.72

SOMETHINGS NOT RIGHT IS IT ????

P.S - the mechanics get a set time of 1.2hrs to do the service... if its done quicker they get bonus - ive seen them do this in 0.5 hrs ( half an hour ) - no joke !!!

Oh NO...ill pretend i didnt read any of that....

Id do it myself but NEED to keep the warrenty...JUST incase anything goes wrong...seems to happen a lot in new cars..

With block resemption now in force i think you can take your car to a garage of your choice and have it serviced - PROVIDING you use geniune Renault parts, your warranty should theoretically still be kept in force - keep ahold of your parts reciepts for future reference. I think having the 1st service done at Renault is a sensible choice though.

my 18k service was done at a local garage using genuine parts and to renualts spec. So therefor keep my warrenty.

Price £80:79 took half a day and service was great.
