HD TV Help

Can anyone help me out of choosing a new TV?

I really want it for my xbox 360 so Im thinking LCD over plasma, the boy's buying a PS3, I fancy upgrading to a 360 elite when they come out so image quality is a factor...
I guess its size over quality. Also I wont be buing another TV for years so I wanna make the right choice.
Im thinking I want a Sony Bravia, I was looking at a 46" and almost bought it but then I saw the 40" that does the full 1080p.

Oh and whats with Currys man theres like a £450 difference betwen buying it in store and buying it off their web site?

HELP!

Apart from the consoles, what else will you have running into it mate, Sky HD or anything ?

Have you checked the recent LCD vs. Plasma, there's a good discussion about this at the moment :)

LCD is great for games, but on a 46" LCD SD would look rather poor

Since I moved house I havn't bothered connecting Sky back up and no ones really missing it. Its primarily for games mate but I'll probably get a HD DVD player to hook up to the 360 for full glory movies.

Theres not much in the price between the 40" & 46" Sony LCD but Im wondering if there anyone out there that can shed any light on the resolution's.. Apparently the 360 doesn't have full 1080p support but some people say it does... with the PS3 I read if your not running it on HD then its poor.

Im also running Windows Vista Ultimate with Media Centre and have all the cabled to hook the PC to the TV but it just looks naff on my 36" normal TV

mate the 360 has full 1080p support. thats the end of it.

The indept part of this is that if you connect over component it will only give you 1080i. If you connect via VGA you get 1080p (so long as your telly supports it, eg sony W series doesn't....). If you connect using new xbox elite HDMI you get full 1080p.

I was wondering because I have a 360 VGA cable and stuck it on max res on my 21" PC screen and it looks mint, hence I want the same quality but from a TV

Thanks for that info thats good to know!

If it's mainly for gaming and hooking up your PC etc, you can't really go wrong with the LCD, but i've not seen one at 46" close up so you might want to try it out first :D

Apart from HD-DVD and Bluray films, there's pretty much nothing in 1080p that your 360\PS3 can give you, so don't expect everything to look amazing for a while yet, especially at that size. Don't sit 2 feet away lol

I have the last version of the pioneer plasma tv and its amazing. Still one of the best around, if looking at lcd i would go for the samsung ones theyre relaly good have a few of them around the house and very good picture quality.

I have the pioneer and mate has the samsung 40" lcd. To be honest both 360 and ps3 looked better on mine but burning is always at the front of my mind when playing console games. Depends what else your going to use it for

You can reserve online with Currys for collection at any local store and pay internet price, saved myself £150 on my HDTV that way! ;)
