Head Gasket Failure

If the head gasket is leaking will the car noticably under perform. Im 99% sure the gasket is leaking on one of my cars (not the 182!!!!!) as the coolant keeps dropping and theres loads of pressure in the system, just wonder if ill notice an improvement in performance if i get it fixed, other option is to get shut!!!

nope its an old ax gt, i know i should post to other marques but harldy anyone responds on there and i need to know pronto whether to get the work done or get shut! been quoted £200 for a skim and new gasket which i know is good, just dunno if worth it

the only way to actually tell is by doing a compression test.

missfire , water in oil ie sludgy , loss in performance, noticeable water leaking down block all telltale signs but as above comp test best proof

When the headgasket was gonw on the valver it was terrible sluggish, an RT kept up with me, lol

Will make a lot of difference to performance if the gasket has blow between the cooling channels and combustion chamber, you lose compression into the cooling system, hence loads of pressure.

Head gasket failure on an AX is a fairly common fault.

If anyone wants a gasket set for a F4R engine (172/182) let me know I have a brand new one spare.
