Head Unit losing memory intermittently

Hello

I have a Sony HU which occasionally loses all it's settings - it only seems to happen when I leave the face on it - but not every time :S

I have a theory it might be to do with locking the car when the HU is beeping (to remind me to take the face off when I can't be arrissed LOL) - anyone else heard of this?

Erm, did you install it yourself? If so, then swap the red and the yellow leads around on the ISO connector, thats what normally causes it.

My boyfriend installed it - it's been in for a couple of months but only lost the memory maybe 5 or 6 times.

I'll get him to swap the wires over and see what happens, thanks

its caused by not having a permanent live from battery, what spammy said!

yeah it is, i've made this mistake myself. But in this case it loses settings every time it loses a live feed.

Why would it only lose settings 5 or 6 times (unless that's all the times you've used the car)?

I use the car every day, that's what confused me. Could be a loose wire perhaps as it seems to be getting more frequent now?

yeah i'd say a loose terminal in the iso block is probably the cause

I'll get him to have a look tomorrow then - not today cos he's had a few to drink and I'd like it back in one piece

like they have said, if its losing intermitently then its probably just a loose connection or something, shouldnt be a problem to fix.
