Head unit sound problems...

  172
Hi,

I have a 52 plate Clio 172 and recently i have been having problems with the sound coming from my standard HU. Every now and then i get a high pitched sound and crackling coming from ALL speakers.

I assumed the problem was with the unit itself so have purchased an Alpine CDE-9881R only to find that i am still getting the crackling sound from all the speakers!!

Could this be a bad earth? I've no other ideas at all. Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

change your speaker, they aren't the best but £1000 you should 2 nice set of 5 1/2" speakers.

That seems like the obvious problem but i have had the unit out today and when i move the wiring the loom around (while conected to the player and is turned on) the sound comes back again and i can turn it up very loud and the sound is perfect.

Also, i have a good set of 6x9's in the rear and when i route the sound only to play through these the sound is still crackly. I dont think i could have blown all of my speakers??

Does anyone know where the earth is connected for the stereo on the clio's??

Cheers

Ryan

  Works...kind of...
I assume this is happening from playing a CD? MP3?

Might be a bad recording/disc. Try an original and hear if it does the same.

Its happening when i play anything... Radio, cd, mp3 and iPod. It is intermittant and can happen anytime. As i say when i had the HU out today, moving the wiring loom around sorted the problem but moving it again caused it!

I am leaning towards a wiring fault but there's so many of them i dont know where to start - although the earth looks like itc came a little loose from the loom.

Thanks for your ideas

Ryan
