Head Unit Troubles

Recently purchased a Pioneer DEH-4700MP head unit from halfords. Fitting the unit was easy, i drive a mk1 facelift model clio, therefore it was straight plug n play... problem is, when the head unit is connected the engine wont start and if it does it splutters and stalls.. when the head unit is unconnected the engine starts and runs fine! the boys at halfords werent very helpful, telling me my battery was flat. i checked the battery and its fine. has anyone had similar problems and if so how did u rectify it?

i'm new to the site, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Prossibly a faulty earth.
Halfords will usually check your batterys conditiopn for free. Just because it starts the car doesn't mean its working. The extra load the cd player has when its on might be the reason.

No need to take it personaly the lack or replys. Sometimes people just don't see posts and you have to bump them. I never saw theis thread when I checked.

Oh and take a chill pill , give it time for replies people do have lifves to lead outwith cliosport ;-P

sorry aboot goin aff ma nut but this is really doin ma head in, av checked the battery with the head unit plugged in and not plugged in and its fine both times. its like the head unit is robbin power from the ignition, any ideas on how to sort or is it a profesional thing?

The charging system may not be functioning properly and when your stereo is on is robbing power and then the battery is not getting enough power, go to halfrauds, kwik knit or the likes and get them to check it out on a meter - usually free
