headlights

  clio 182 sport
hi could someone tell me the best way to get rid of the horrible scarmy marks you get around the edge of the headlights on 182 thanks.

  Clio Sport 182
Soapy water
masking tape
wet n dry 1200/1500
Scratch X
polish

1/ Mask around headlight to protect paint work
2/ Soak 1200/1500, start with 1200 and use plenty of water. Rub the headlight in a circular motion to remove any signs of yellowing, and to smooth the surface. (this takes a while)
3/ When happy, use 1500 to minimise the scratches from the 1200, again, the longer, the better. Use plenty of water!!
4/ Buff dry (should be hazy) When ur happy yellowing has been removed and the surface is smooth, apply Scratch X to a rag and buff. This requires quite alot of pressure, so small areas at a time is best!!
5/ Clean up the headlight and if ur happy with the results, use a polish to finish off and make it shine...if not repeat the whole process (which wont take as long as the first time)

Remember, this isnt a half hour job if ur doing it by hand, so alow some time. Trust me, its worth it ;)

I do a lot of headlights and I'd personally finish wet sanding @ 2500/3000 if you can get hold of some. Should get a better finish and saves a lot of time polishing them back up :)
