Heater Fan Dead

  BMW M135i
Got in the car to go to work this morning, turned the CC on and it was on the two lowest bars as it was on auto and i'd just started the car. The screen was misted so I turned the fan up, when I got to 6 bars the fans went dead.

Now I assume its the usual rheostat failure but i've got a few questions, first one being what am i'm looking to change? (pic below) as there seems to be some confusion as to what i'm looking for.

And also as I was testing things considering the rheostats are near enough £100 and I wanted to be sure i've found that the fan still has 12v fed to it? As soon as you turn the ignition on the fan gets 12v on the power terminals yet doesn't spin, also the voltage doesn't vary as you alter the fan speed? Is this normal behaviour?

The rheostat/power pack thing is to the right of the above photo, solved my problem anyway. The only problem i've got now is being £100 lighter courtesy of renault parts :dapprove: the b******s.
