Heater only working on full - resistor

Ever since i have had my valver the heater has only worked on full wack or not at all i believe this is a common fault with Mk1 Clios and that the resistor is at fault, but i havmnlt a clue where to get at this resistor to get it out and set about fionding a replacment, someone on here must have doen this jib themselves?

The resistor in fitted in the o/s of the heater blower motor, under the scuttle trims, it is held in with a torx screw and clips.

Ive got this problem with my heater (Ive had it for almost a year now, long before my recent probs with my coolant pipes).

Will you let me know if replacing the resistor solves the problem? One of the electrical garages I took it took said that it was the radiator pipes just blowing cold but they wernt exactly sure how to fix it.

Its a pain in the arse driving about for 15 minutes until you finally get some hot air out, even with the heater dial on full whack!

where can the resistor be bought? is it renault only?i will have a look at getting the oldone out and try and source one from an electrical place for sensible money, i think the heater will still work as it is currently without the ressitor in place unless its forming the circuit?

heater wont work if taken out, it does complete the circuit, i also think its renault only! i broken three clios lately and all of them havent worked! so yes its common!
