help again please clio sport getting desperate

thought the cat was gone so replaced that and lambda sensor today got same problem, engine light on right hand side still flashing over 3000 revs and spluttering like mad, sounds like missing but not sure, coil pack sparking fine have checked that
light flashing goes out if left on tickover but lumpy as hell
please help only had this 3 days and it was a well serviced one and was running fine until coming out of work the other day

Is it alot slower than it was before it happened? Sounds like its misfiring and runnig on 3. If so get the inlet off,plugs out and check the plugs if you say you've done the coilpack. See what condition the plugs are in and if any of them are damp with fuel. If so you've found you're problem cylinder. If there's fuel there then it's overfueling which would suggest injectors are fine so you're left with the decision of changing plugs or HT Leads. That's the problem I had a few weeks ago and the leads were the cheaper of the 2 so tried them first and it solved my misfire

it sounds like its spluttering and choking itself and hesitant all the way through the revs, have to try that next then, i guess getting the inlet manifold off is pretty easy job, im quite mechanical so hope i can do it

Yeah,its only a few bolts then just lifts off. Only need a ratchet,socket and an extension as there are a couple down between the inlets from what I remember,easy enough. Definately sounds like you have a misfire though

took everything off and plug 1 was a bit damp so checked all plugs, all fine, ht leads seemed a bit weak in places but visually ok, put everything back together and was running sweet, wierd, then it started missing and i could here a ticking noise, looked at the leads and number one was shorting on the casing, wrapped it in some tape and problem solved with a very slight hesitation at low revs, so i think a new set of leads would sort it
