HELP!!!! Auxiliary tensioner

  Clio sport 182
Hi all. Hope you can help....

So today I did my cambelt and dephaser.... all good was due it working away and all fine. I go to put auxiliary belt on and all fine I then go to tension it up and the tensioner after reading online was said to use grips to compress spring and should slot in.. as I’m compressing the outer metal brakes around the outside of the tensioner bolt holes just crumbled away!!! I have added a pic of what part failed

A) can anyone supple or know where to get just the individual spring part of tensioner from.

And B a easier/walkthrough to fit the tensioner properly....

Thanks in advance

You can buy the tensioner on its own from euro car parts but it's about 3x the cost of buying the aux kit from Renault.

Proper way to do it is use a tool which fits into the square socket on the side of the tensioner and compress the spring.

But I never found a tool flat enough that would fit so the next best option is just wrap a big jubilee clip around the spring and tighten it up untill the tension has released enough to get the belt on/off
