HELP! Car’s gone mental!!!!!

Ive drove the WIlliams back from work, parked it up and all was fine. Went out about an hour later and opened it using the central locking key thing, put the key in the ignition, turned it on, and there was a low pitched beep and then the alarm went off.

Couldnt turn the alarm off with the immobiliser key fob so had to pop the bonnet and use the small key in the alarm to turn the siren off. As soon as I turn it back on, the alarm goes off again.

The car will not not start, the immobilser fob still doesnt get any response and, strangely, the central locking doesnt work at all. Not with the infra-red and not with the key in the door.

Has anybody got any idea what has caused this? Fuses? Battery? Massive electric malfunction? HEEEEELP!!!!!

Have you had any water leaking through the sunroof? I had this once and the same happened as you expect alarm didnt sound. I had to wait 2 days until it dried out then it worked ok.

No, before I picked up the car it had a slight leak from the ariel, but its been sealed with silicone stuff. Its not rained all week either? One of the battery terminals has some reddish liquid on it though...?!

TRYING DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY TURN THE ALARM OFF THEN RECONNECT THE BATTERY AFTER ABOUT 10 MINS THEN TURN THE ALARM BACK ON WORKED FOR ME

Is there an over-ride anywhere for the immobiliser?

Althoug it was 2 months ago that the leak was fixed and its been fine since then...

Actually in the glove compartment? Will go have a look.

Oh yeah, will the infra red central locking key/system be disabled if I have the alarm turned to the "Off" position?

The winner is.....

CLIO16V_BOY!

Disconnected battery for an hour or so, re-connected and it all started up again. Phew phew phew. Thanks for all the suggestions & help.
