help cars dead

hi cars just died
just got back from stereo shop connected headunit went to turn car on nothing!! clock goes back to 00.00 everytime i turn it over

interior light is much dimmer

front lights wrk

all lights on dash light up the go out

when i turn it over theres nothing there at all!!!!

any idears?? how can it die within 2 mins?? is there a fuse or summin i could have blown??

please help iam stumped???

Tried taking the radio back out and starting it?

fuse, bad earth connection, wires touching could be a number of things. call up the place u just had the work done

tryed taking stereo out again still nothing

what fuse could it be looked in the manaul there a fuse for clock cigarete lighter and radio but surley that wouldnt stop my car??

its only a iso connection for a headunit so i done it myself

there are two iso connectors 1x speaker /1x mains

on the mains there is red yellow blue and violet

i noticed there are connections half way along these wires when i first plugged it in these wernt connected half way up ie were loose could i have shorted/blow summin??

mine did exactly the same check your fuse there is a five amp one you will have blown no doubt, it did mine the doors didnt lock car woulnt start hazards didnt work lol

seriously you prob caught a wire when the stereo went it same as me

checked fuse theres only one 5 amp and that is fine :-(

cars nearly 7 years old do you think battery could have died??

surely they only last so long??

does central locking run of battery as thats getting weak ie dosent lock 1st time interior light is very dull and clock resets everytime i turn car over

i shorted some wires fitting my head unit, interior lights, heater controls etc stopped working, could be something similar ?

hi guys just checked all fuses they seem fine my headlights are now very very dim iam thinking my battery has had its last day or needs a winters charge

i have only been using my car in the evenings, so maybe its not had time to charge as its dead dark by the time i get to go for a spin and even then i have my stereo on ,heating on, rear window heater on when needed which puts the elec heated mirrors on ,front fog lights and normal lights ,cigarette lighter charging my phone or ipod lol thats quite a bit of juice i spose

or perhaps its just dead as its cells are knackered

everything seems to be pointing to battery hope it is bloody annoying whatever it is just wanna play with my new toy (alpine headunit)

thanks for replys will report back later after ive charged/bought a new battery

check battery water levels asap what you do is undo the litle screws on the battery and see if you can see fluid in each hole if theres little or you cant see anything top it up with water from a bottle like evian etc (easier to pour )
