HELP!! Fault code help please!

  Racing Blue 182
Hi all,

So my EML just came on. Got it plugged in and it is coming up with 3 faults, 2 for catalytic converter which I expected coz I have a decat! The next one is for Cruise Control Controls/Buttons, cruise works absolutely fine though.

The guy at the diagnostics place thinks that it has too much back pressure from the new exhaust (which has been on for weeks and been fine) and causing the light to come on.

However when the faults are cleared, the light comes back on when just on the ignition and not when it's started. This makes me think its the cruise control as it must need the engine started to recognise the exhaust faults!

Has anyone has this cruise error before as its hard to pinpoint the actual problem in it!? Or should I trust the bloke and just take the yozza off (which I have wanted for ages) and hope that clears it?

Any help would be much appreciated guys!

Thanks for reading!

Luke

I would imagine the Catalyst faults are causing it to trigger the light..... the engine management light will come on on when just the ignition is on.... doesnt go out until you start it. If there are no faults it will go out.

I have quite a few historic faults in mine which remain in the ECU's memory, but still doesnt trigger the EML light, & runs fine.
What exactly are the error codes for the Cat... or didnt he show you?

Thanks for the reply. I am just thinking that if it is the exhaust, how come it was fine for weeks :/

I have a card with the some codes on (but don't know if they are actual fault codes), Ill try find it and post them up.

Is it worth just chucking my old exhaust and cat back on then pal?

I know you havent seen the codes.... but its possible one of them is for Lamda sensor. Might not be because your not running a cat.
Your only over the bridge from me... pop over i put the diags on it sometime.

I saw the codes the first time (took it to 2 places) and they both just said catalytic converter. But I then gave it to a mechanic who took it somewhere else and he was the one that said it was probably the back pressure from the new exhaust an suggested a remap.

Thanks mate, where are you based?

Thanks

The only sensors that can detect your catalyst... is your lamda's. its important to check the live data from these first. (i know your not running a cat)
so need to log back in & read codes.

Im in newport dude.

OK, well I'm undecided on whether to keep the exhaust or not yet, tempted to put the old one back on (which I really don't want to do :(). I'm going to have a think on what to do and I will let you know! Thank you for your help mate.
