  S4 (320bhp) + Clio 16v

Just Bought My bros 16v yesterday. lovely car apart from the battery. was out in it last night and the battery just keeps going flat. the batery light comes on then if i go flat out in it the light will go off again. So today went a got a heavy duty bat for it. was working fine then the little red light was back. so does that mean that its the alternator or what? if so anyone no where u can get an uprated one from for when i put my system in? also anyone no if u can get car spares at trade prices and where from?!?

Any help will be much appreciated!?!

Cheers Tom

Got a volt meter? If so measure the voltage when the engine is at idle - should be 14ish volts... if its not - could be alternator!

Might be better with a recon one rather than a breakers... at least then u know the internals are ok!

If u dont have a meter a local garage will have one... go and ask them looking a bit pathetic and Im sure theyll help ;)

put the meter on dc volts

put it across batt terminals

reading should be over 13.5 volts for a good alternator with engine running of course, with some elec devices running lights, blower etc should never dip below low 13v
