Right i've had a look at that one but as im a total noob when it comes to photography i don't know how that's better than the sony (double zoom and more megapixels). What should i be looking for please be gentle lol

The Sony will be a decent camera, i haven't used that particular one. But i've had my fair share of sony compacts and they are superb.

However - The lumix range of cameras are superb. And defiantly worth taking a look at before making your decision.

Personally i would also look more for a wide angle lens than a long 'zoom' or focal length. Reason being long 'zoom' lenses tend to be a bit pants and frankly its rarely you use it. However wide angle can be useful for landscapes and a range of other stuff.

Two hours heavy searching later im in no better position. There are so many cameras in the market and so many things to take to account :/
