Help needed converting video camera footage

I have done it once with Nero and burnt a dvd successfully.

However, the sound got out of sync at some point, i assume something messed up when converting.

Can anyone suggest some good software for doing this ? Is there any that will automatically 'cut' each chapter from the tape ? i.e set off a 60 minute minidv tape and leave it without having to manually stop/start it or cut it up afterwards ?

All seemed a little long winded using nero.

6.x i think with nero vision 2.

Its user friendly but i think some anti-virus kicked in while it was converting and it dropped a load of frames and that is when sound went out of sync. (using firewire aswell by the way so shouldnt be any probs there).

Might be worth upgrading ? or is there some software out there that is better.

Just want to set the camera off and leave it ... job done.
