Keynote END!

My thoughts on this: That was freaking incredible! THIS is how a livestream should be handled! Take note! The advances in iOS, iPadOS, macOS are pretty damn impressive. Apple moving to its own custom silicon for Mac is HUGE (bad news for Intel investors though! First AMD kicks them in the balls and now this! Ouch!). Privacy has always been a big deal when it comes to Apple devices, and to see them pushing ahead even more for user Privacy is outstanding - and its something ALL manufacturers should be doing! This keynote was perfection and I am now excited more than ever for all this to come out soon this year!! Nothing else comes close, and I can say that with confidence!

Note to CS: I don’t usually post my notes on here. I should lol. I write notes for all Apple keynotes, Xbox events, PlayStation events etc. I hope you guys find this useful.

Thank you.

No, fair play mate, great effort taking those notes and something that I couldn't be arsed to do (I never watch a full keynote of anything tbh)

Never understood why Apple didn't bring in the app drawer sooner instead of multiple pages from the home screen. I have a work iPhone and have tried to make it as android as possible. This will make it better (if it comes to the 8)

Hey man thanks!

just for reference, Apple usually supports devices with OS updates for at least 5 years. The iPhone 8 will 100% be getting iOS14.

Actually enjoyed reading that. I need a new iPad Pro, but the question is do I wait until sept in the hope of a new and improved?

The iPad Pro 12.9” is a beast. It’s an amazing piece of hardware.

The magic keyboard takes it to another level, I’m spending 99% of my time with it in the magic keyboard because it’s just so convenient to use. The only time I tend to take it out is to use the pencil when I need to do some artwork.

I have the iPad Pro 12.9 and I use it more than any device. I barely use my laptop now too!

Yeah I’m going 12.9 and keyboard and pencil...

I have an 11 now but I’ll hand it down to my junior (work device)

I know it'll take a few years to see the full impact of Apple silicon but it's a bold move and interesting to see where they stack up compared to Intel and AMD.
iOS 14 and Big Sur look good, although some of those new macOS dock icons look a bit weird and dated, definitely has an iOS feel but we'll see.

Apple silicone means no more Bootcamp on Macs. This is a big negative as there is a fairly big Mac following that use Bootcamp in order to play games on their Macs (Gaming in OSX sucks dockey c**k).

I can see a few mentions of the public beta for ios14 being in July but anyone able to find a date?

Working out if I am sad enough to pay the £79 or not.

There's a how to here

Banking apps don't work on it at the moment though. If you just want a play, do a full iCloud backup to your Mac and then you can restore it after.

Don’t.

iOS14 in my opinion is essentially a point release of iOS13, it’s underwhelming. The app drawer is a nice feature, but I have my apps organised in exactly the same way anyway, so I won’t be using that.

iPadOS14 is seriously underwhelming, there’s very little new, it doesn’t even feature the app drawer, I think calling it V14 is a bit of a Liberty.

My DTK arrives today, so I’m interested to see any performance differences with my app on Intel vs ARM.

Crazy paying £79 for a profile you can find on Google in 10sec 😂

True, but I have a watch, iPad pro, MacBook Pro, a few phones and would pay for the added benefit of knowing it’s not a bugged/infected version for any of them.

It's funny how we take to things in a different way. I'm the opposite and have a personal iPhone with a works Android phone.

I've tried to make my Android phone a bit more iPhone like and simply given up. The interpreted beauty of Android is that it's anything to anyone. They can customise it a trillion times over, tweaking many things to be the way they want it. Add to that manufacturer specific tweaks that overlay the O/S beneath it and you just end up with a mess of frustration.

Maybe the newer phones are better. Maybe the processes have been much more standardised than letting Samsung do it one way and Sony another. I'm probably just jaded from being the conduit for being the company's mobile phone person and literally seeing the red mist every time an Android device came my way!

That’s their versions of it. I use Google Pixel (Nexus before those) so it’s just Android. No manufacturers overlays on it or duplicated apps that you can’t uninstall etc.
I couldn’t get on with Samsung’s overlay, even after making it as close to stock Android as possible.
