Help Needed, New Noise From Suspension.

  It's A Reno
I've been out for a drive today and a new noise has started and need some help identifying it.
When I go over humps or holes in the road, I get a noise from the driver's side front suspension area that sounds like a couple of steel plates rattling together.
Any ideas?

Cheers

Just checked, broken spring it is.:( 73 brownie points to each of you.

Anyone know how hard it is to change on an RS and potential cost?

Thanks for that. Nice to know it won't eat up the weekend.
I've just had a root around and found Fubar's guide to changing the front shocks which will help loads. Great guide.

While I'm in there, I know there are issues with the top mounts going t*ts up.
Does anyone know what I should be looking for to prevent any future issues with them? What exactly goes wrong with them. Do they wear etc?

Cheers.

I've just ordered a new coil spring from Reno......£85 ******* quid!!!

Having had a look around the website, I have noticed some people talking about colour codings for coil springs. Different weight/strengths I imagine.
The guy I spoke to at Reno didn't ask me about this.
Is this a problem or are they all the same for 172FFs?

Cheers

The spring is out now, it's snapped near the bottom.
The colour marking on the spring is 2 white stripes.
So, if I'm offered a spring tomorrow with different colour markings, will it make much difference?

Cheers

Depends if its the right spring form the car you cna get others to fit which are the wrong setup poundage etc wise.

I picked the spring up yesterday from Reno in Nottingham and it had the same 2 white stripes, and is now in, so I'm confident it will be ok.
I imagine 2 white stripes must be the standard for an RS172.

Thanks all for help and advice.:)
