help needed

i jus joined 10mins ago my cars idleing hi ive ad the throttle body cleaned 2 day but still the same any ideas ive been told there aint a idle control valve on the cup 172 phase 2 many thanks help plzzzzz cheeers

any1 had the same problem ive been told i might need a new throttle body but dun wanna waste money jus yet

if it ave got a idle control valve where would it b ive looked all ova and i ad a garage clean it out 4 me

Why would you take it to a garage for that........

Did they take the inlet off or just the TB ? Take it all off and make sure they have re-seated it properly.

The ICV should be very near to the TB one would imagine...

im lazy m8 i think he said he took the tb off he said there aint a idv on my car its all electronic..... do u think hes talking s**t i do.... will a diagnostic test tell me wats rong even if the engine management light dun cum on

FLOL .. I hope you paid no more than 50p for his work !?

No as it's more than likely just an air leak. As I said, take it all off, and make sure it's all seated correctly.

5 quid cheers m8 ill giv it a go 2moz if it still appens wa next diagnostic test is it will it tell me wats rong straight off

A phase 2 will have the stepper controlled throttle body and so it doesn't have a dedicated Idle Air Control valve as the throttle plate itself is actuated by the ECM to control idle speed... technically the mechanic guy that looked hte car over was right. Diagnostics are only as good as the person interpruting them as I doubt a fault code will have been logged for a high idle.

I would start by removing the TB again and ensuring its been cleaned correctly... especially around the pivot points.
