Hi all, I have recently changed the head on my 182 and since I have done it everytime I start the car it revs up to flat out! I have made sure that all sensors are plugged in etc! Any ideas please? Thanks Dan

Changed the head ?!?

Or the inlet .. The very upper most part with RenaultSport on it ?

You've got an air leak. Take it off and make sure it's on properly when it goes back on.

I have changed the complete head due to cambelt failure, I have had the inlet plenum off to do this! I will double check that this is fitted correctly but I have had it off and on a few times to make sure I have not done something silly, how about throttle position sensor? Thanks Dan

It could be anything.

It's drawing in too much air. That's the only thing that would cause that.

Something is not fitted properly.

I have fitted a 172 head on my 182 block, by any chance are the inlet plenums different?

Yes I replaced the rocker plate breather too, what differences are there between the phase 1 172 inlet plenum to the phase 2? Would all the sensors snd plugs be the same? Thanks Dan

I had to investigate a similar fault for a mate a while back, turned out the egg shaped gasket between the upper inlet and the breather plate was missing, looks like this

Thanks guys, I have replaced the gasket, but I'm guessing the plenum isn't fitting flush to the oil breather plate! Can the idle control valve not be swapped between inlet plenums? Thanks
