  Punto GT
hello ladys & gentelmen! as you can tell im a newcomer! Im sorry to say but im also a ford lover & only got into clio's threw my miss's as she drives a clio 172 sport mk3,but anyway.......

alot of you guys are going 2say this guys thick after you read my question but pls give dencent awnsers because me & the miss's was in a panic 4 a couple days, but here goes

right, my miss's had a flat tyre & went to change it, when she looked in the boot there was no tyre what so ever & she was going mad because we had a argument that day & she thought i took out the tyre & let the air out her tyre! so, the argument calmed down & i said somone must have broken in & stole it, but the thing is no 1 had access to the car so we was baffeled! she said to me that when she brought the car there was a tyre in the boot but it was lying in the boot not bolted down & when she left she just asumed that the garage bolted it in the car! the thing is, i heard on the v6's there spose to have some sort of foam to repair punctures on a short term basis, was the 172 ment to come with this? the thing is, when i looked in the boot there is no sign to say that any tools have been used & no marks or ware & tear were the tyre should be. its fresh!
so me & the miss's are very baffeled by this & before we go & make a complaint at the dealler we want to find out from you guys!

so help if you can! cheers!
the clio is an 03plate,mk2 172cup

ps the cup is ment to be the model that weighs less than others but would renault really sacrefice the spare tyre?

I'm afraid so sir!

The cup model (like my trophy) does not have a spare wheel, it comes with 2 cans of foam! At least on yours there is the space ready to carry one if you like.

On mine theres not even a space in the boot!

hope this helps

You could go to the dealer and ask for the tyre foam but I'm afriad you don't get a spare wheel/tyre in cups. You should have a wheel changing kit though, ie jack, brace etc...

a lot of cars dont have spare wheels these days, new minis, smart cars, clio 172 cup, clio 182s etc etc

... i was worried on taking my 172 cup for its first MOT... bt the dude didn't even look in the boot. Said it was no longer a requirement??

As the other guys have said cup didnt come with a spare it was parts of the money/weight saving. 182s dont even have a spare wheel well due to the exhaust system. At least if you want one you can buy a wheel and tyre and sling it in the well. Mk2 "full fat" 172s came with a full size (alloy) spare.

For an MOT you dont have to have a spare wheel - If you do though the tyre on the spare wheel must be legal.

I you haven't tried already look under your front passenger seat as that is where the cans of foam are in my 182, not that I would use it!! If its only a slow(ish) puncture pump tyre back up and drive round to kwik fit or whoever as using the tyre foam can ruin a perfectly good tyre.

My advice would be get one of these.
