HELP! Registration Plate Question!

Recently someone went into the back of me and i was going to get my bumper all smoothed but this means the Registration lights will be removed. Am i allowed to keep it in my window clearly displayed or do i need to put it under the lights?

thanks looks alright now seen as though all my bumper is cracked

boot lid is getting smoothed, the 2 bump strips on the bumper smoothed and where the reg plate is but still where i can put the reg plate and have light on it
