Help! Window has popped out the frame!!!

Hey,

The other night after going through a drive through I put my window up and it unfortunately popped out the top of the door frame! I also heard what sounded like a piece of the plastic mechanism fall down through the door! Its the front drivers side window of a '54' plate 1.2 clio. I now dont know if its an easy fix or if i should just take it to a garage to get it fixed!

Im going to attempt to take the door card off tomorrow and have a look, but i was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if they can give me some advice about what to do!

My drivers side window did this a couple of years ago. IIRC I paid £70 for Renault to fix it.

This happened to my mums clio...f**k me I nearly died laughing. She pulled the switch to put it up and it kept going...and going untill it fell out...this was while doing 70 on the motorway.

well actually that was the funny thing, I just put the window up and it went up automatically but i didnt realise it had popped out the top till i was doing 70mph on the motorway, and i was like hmm a little bit more draughty than i remember..... HOLY S**T! haha Might just take it to an independant specialist tomorrow then! Cant really be assed doing it myself haha

Theres a plastic clip that is riveted to the top right corner of the window that keeps it in the runner. It will have come off and dropped into the door.

I've seen my old man fitting a window into his old Ford and he ended up slicing his hand doing so, I'd personally get someone to do it locally, can't cost that much.

I'd only attempt it if you know what you're doing and/or don't want to pay someone to do it.

Ok Quick update:

Got the door card off to find a small piece of broken plastic at the bottom of the door and a mashed rivet. Managed to find where the broken piece of plastic came from so the glue is drying just now! The rivet - like you said shepperdspie - is off the runner in the top corner, so i got the runner out of the door frame and im just waiting for my mate to come up with a pop rivet gun and we should get this bad boy sorted!

yup, same thing happened to me the other week, at the car wash! Managed to reverse out before getting a soaking!

I got a new one on ebay this week, was about £10 and easy to fit, saves on the glue option!

Was it the kind of orangy coloured runner that you replaced in the middle of the door? If so how did you get it off? I will replace it if i can work out how to get it off to change it! But it seems to be working so far so fingers crossed it might be fixed!

Good news! Got all the trim and stuff back on and the window works! Although motor sounds under alot of stress, probs not long till that gives up the ghost also! Thanks for your help though guys
